38 Pegasi is a hot blue star on the great square of Pegasus, that geometric figure which dominates the autumn sky of the northern hemisphere. Its B class places it among the hottest surfaces the human eye can perceive directly, far younger and more energetic than the Sun. Its light crosses some three hundred and sixty years to reach us: it left in the Spanish Golden Age.
Where it is and when to see it
38 Pegasi lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
