What is 25 Cepheus
25 Cephei is a K-type orange giant 922 light-years away, a slow ember inside the starry house of Cepheus. Its light set out toward the 11th century, when Persian astronomers were producing some of the most precise stellar catalogues of the Middle Ages. The constellation, circumpolar at mid-northern latitudes, never sets below the horizon.
Where it is and when to see it
25 Cepheus lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
