Its story
Delta Hydri is a white main-sequence star in the small southern constellation of Hydrus, the little water snake mapped by Dutch navigators crossing the southern seas in the late sixteenth century. At 140 light-years, with a clean and solitary glow, it offers one of the few naked-eye anchors in a region of the sky almost devoid of bright stars.
