Kap-2
Its story
Kappa-2 Indi is a K4 III orange giant 491 light-years away, in the discreet Indus, a constellation drawn in the sixteenth century by Dutch navigators to honour the peoples encountered on their southern routes. Its absolute magnitude of –0.37 reveals that, modest though it looks, it radiates dozens of times the Sun's light. Distinguished by a numerical label to keep it from being confused with its neighbour Kappa-1, a variable dwarf star.
