Its story
14 Pegasi is a white A-type star peering into the great rectangle of Pegasus, the winged horse of the autumn sky. At 275 light-years away, its glow does not dominate the constellation, but it elegantly accompanies that figure every European seafarer learned to recognise during the cold months. The light reaching Earth tonight left its atmosphere when the first Newtonian telescopes were beginning to open the sky to a sharpness unknown until then.
