Cool red starIts story
75 Cygni is a red M-type giant settled some 404 light-years away in the body of the Swan, the great cross laid across the summer Milky Way. Its cool surface —barely half the Sun's temperature— gives it a distinctly orange cast through binoculars. The light reaching us tonight left the star around 1620, at the dawn of telescopic astronomy.
