Stitched to the wing of the Swan that crosses the Milky Way, this yellow-white type-F star shines with a light somewhat livelier and whiter than the Sun's. Its glow set out 162 years ago, when the first transatlantic telegraphs began weaving the invisible web that would bind continents. It has travelled while humanity was learning to speak at a distance, reaching us like an ancient word that at last finds an ear.
