Its story
In the calm waters of Aquarius, this orange K-type star shines about 264 light-years away. Its light set out around 1762, when Catherine the Great was ascending to the Russian throne and Rousseau was publishing The Social Contract. Cooler than the Sun yet more generous in size, its amber tone recalls the oil lamps lighting eighteenth-century salons. Today it reaches us already steeped in Enlightenment.
