What is 63 Ceti
63 Ceti is a yellow G-type star about 388 light-years away, set in the body of the sea monster Cetus, one of the largest constellations in the sky. It shares its spectral family with the Sun, though it is further along in life and burns more brightly. It inhabits a region rich in distant galaxies, which makes that corner of the sky a regular target for the great telescopes.
Where it is and when to see it
63 Ceti lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
