Guniibuu B is a very close neighbour, just 19 light-years away, a member of the binary system the Kamilaroi people of Australia named after a small reddish bird. It is an orange K-type star, cooler and smaller than the Sun, gravitationally bound to a companion with whom it shares a long orbital dance. The light perceived tonight left its surface in a recent era, roughly the span between two human generations.

Guniibuu B lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is June: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
