47 Cassiopeiae inhabits the celebrated W of the seated queen, about 108 light-years from Earth. Its F spectrum places it among the yellow-white stars, slightly hotter than the Sun. The light crossing a human eye tonight broke free from its surface around the turn between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

47 Cassiopeiae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December, when it culminates around midnight.
