Hot blue starIts story
42 Cassiopeiae is a hot blue B-type star within the famous W of Cassiopeia, that angular sweep which presides over northern skies and never sets at mid-European latitudes. At around 278 light-years, its light set out in the years when the great royal observatories of Paris and Greenwich were rising, just as modern astronomy was beginning to measure stellar distances with growing confidence.
