What is 45 Aquilae
45 Aquilae is a white A-type star about 352 light-years away, inside the Eagle that spreads its wings along the summer Milky Way. Its bluish-white light points to a young, hot surface, and though unobtrusive to the unaided eye in the city, it is embedded in one of the sky's richest regions, crossed by dark nebulae, crowded star fields and distant globular clusters.
Where it is and when to see it
45 Aquilae lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
