Nu Aquilae is remarkable for its distance: at nearly 2,840 light-years it remains visible to the naked eye thanks to a colossal luminosity, characteristic of yellow supergiants. The light arriving tonight set out deep in the Middle Ages, long before any instrument could measure stellar parallax. A single star that rivals whole clusters in radiated energy.
