Its story
71 Aquilae is a yellow G-type giant suspended within the celestial eagle. Its light, which left the star more than 337 years ago, travelled while the late seventeenth century unfolded on Earth. At magnitude 4.31, it sits right at the edge of unaided vision under dark skies — a modest ember tucked inside the silhouette of the soaring bird.
