Variable starIts story
Upsilon Sagittarii is a yellow type-F star in an especially dense region of the Milky Way, close to the galactic heart. Its light shifts gently, the characteristic pulse of stars that have lived through millions of years of nuclear fusion. The distance is vast —nearly 1,780 light-years— and its apparent brightness modest compared with the swarming suns of the galactic bulge piled up behind it.
