Highly luminous starIts story
Its yellow-white light travels across vast distances from Scutum, a small but luminous constellation of the summer Milky Way. It is an F-type star, a supergiant and exceptionally bright, far hotter than the Sun and powerful enough to count among the notable luminaries. Scutum was drawn by Hevelius in honour of the Polish king John III Sobieski after the battle of Vienna.
