Variable starIts story
In Draco, that long celestial serpent coiled around the north pole, beats a blue-tinted, variable star of B type. Its light set out almost thirteen hundred years ago, deep in the early Middle Ages, when Irish monks were illuminating gospel books in the mists of their island. Far hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it flickers with its own rhythm, changing brightness like a slow heartbeat. It is an oscillating blue spark coiled within the dragon, reminding us that even the most ancient lights can have rhythm and breath.
