What is Epsilon 2 Lyrae
Epsilon-2 Lyrae is part of the famous Double Double asterism, a quadruple system of white stars that splits in a modest telescope near Vega. About one hundred and fifty-five light-years away, its two main components revolve slowly around one another while each conceals an even tighter pair. It is one of the objects most often shown to those just beginning to observe the sky with their own instrument.
Where it is and when to see it
Epsilon 2 Lyrae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
