Hot blue starIts story
Among the stellar dunes of Sagittarius, where the galactic centre weighs upon the night, a B-type sun shines 466.7 light-years away. The light now crossing the atmosphere was born while the Islamic astronomers of medieval Baghdad were translating Ptolemy and baptising stars with names that still echo through catalogues today. Blue heat packed into a single point amid owls of dust.
