Its story

γ Scuti is a white star set in one of the most spectacular regions of the Milky Way: the Scutum Star Cloud, a luminous fragment of the galactic disc crossing the summer sky. There, among thousands of stars overlapping in perspective, its white light stands out with the sharpness of a silver blade. The constellation was created by Hevelius in the 17th century to honour the Polish king John III Sobieski.
