Kaus Media, «the middle of the bow» in mingled Latin and Arabic, marks the central section of the bow Sagittarius draws toward the heart of the Milky Way. An orange K-class giant 347 light years away, its warm hue stands out against the bright background of the galactic centre. Its light departed not long before Cervantes finished Don Quixote.
