41 Draconis is a spectroscopic K-type binary in circumpolar Draco, just 207 light-years away from Earth. Its two orange components chase each other far too closely to be split apart by any telescope, and only the spectrum gives them away: absorption lines softly twin in step with the orbit. Because Draco never sets from European latitudes, this hidden pair shines every single night of the year.
Where it is and when to see it
41 Draco lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
