What is Dziban
Dziban comes from the Arabic «al-dhiʾbān», «the two wolves» or «the two jackals», a pair of stars in Draco that classical astronomy pictured hunting together. It is a yellow-white star 75 light-years away, close enough for its light to reach us in barely three generations. The constellation Draco winds between the two Bears, and Dziban is one of the sharpest points along its sinuous path.
Where it is and when to see it
Dziban lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is January: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
