What is HIP 8598
In Perseus shines an F-type star, yellow-white and quietly hotter than the Sun. Its light set out at the close of the nineteenth century, when the Lumière brothers projected their first films in Paris and Tesla dreamed of alternating currents that would light the world. It traversed one hundred and thirty-six years to settle —faithful— upon the night that now receives it.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 8598 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
