Hot blue starIts story
In Ara, the smoking altar of the ancients, shines a blue B-type star 636 light-years away. Its white-blue light, far hotter than the Sun's, set out when Juan Sebastián Elcano completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth under Castilian colors. It reaches us now as a quiet glow, a reminder that in the southern sky burns an altar untouched by human clocks.
