What is HIP 78893
It is a white A-type star coiled within Draco, that celestial serpent encircling the northern circumpolar stars. Its light set out some 254 years ago, when James Cook was completing his first circumnavigation and the Enlightenment was measuring the world with sextants. Hotter than the Sun, it radiates with the firm calm of early-spectrum stars. Draco carries it along a discreet bend, away from the well-marked head.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 78893 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March, when it culminates around midnight.

- From New York it never sets and culminates about 63° up.
- From Sydney it never rises above the horizon.
It can be seen from anywhere north of 22° S.
