50 Librae is a white A0 star 490 light-years away, shining at magnitude 5.53 inside the celestial scales. It is approaching us at 19 km per second —a slow, steady fall invisible on human timescales but eloquent on cosmic ones. Its white, hot light set out for Earth before the first modern refracting telescope had been ground.
