Its story

χ Serpentis is a variable A-class star at 220 light-years, in the coiled body of the Serpent. Its brightness is not perfectly steady: it oscillates faintly over time, a discreet pulsation of its atmosphere that the human eye cannot catch but that photometers register. It is a white light, young and changing, set within a constellation that mythology always linked to the healing wisdom of Asclepius.
