An orange type-K star burns in the Wolf, Lupus, 1,094 light-years away. Its light set out toward northern Europe when Eleanor of Aquitaine reigned and troubadours sang in Occitan through the courts of Provence. Cooler than the Sun, its copper glow embodies the maturity of K giants —a patient flame that has taken nearly a millennium to settle upon our telescopes.
