Delta Lupi pulses every four hours. A Beta Cephei variable, this blue subgiant twelve times more massive than the Sun breathes with a steady cycle of 0.1655 days. It belongs to the Upper-Centaurus Lupus subgroup of the Scorpius-Centaurus association, the nearest cluster of massive stars to our own, and at fifteen million years old it is already drifting from the main sequence. Its light has been crossing space for 884 years.
