Its story
At 1,045 light years in Centaurus, this orange K-type star shines at magnitude 5.85. Its light set out around the year 980, in the century when the Caliphate of Córdoba reached its splendour with Almanzor. The warm tone places it among the orange giants, stars that have left youth behind and have expanded their outer layers, becoming larger and more refulgent in the slow countdown towards their final transformation.
