Its story
48 Hydrae glides along the immense serpentine figure of Hydra, the largest of all modern constellations, which spans nearly a quarter of the sky. It is a yellow-white F-type star, slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun, whose light crosses just over one hundred and eighty-two years before reaching Earth —an intimate distance on the galactic scale.
