Its story

Deep in Centaurus, about 498 light years away, it radiates the calm orange tone of a K-type star. Its light set out around 1528, in the heart of the Renaissance, when Castiglione published The Courtier and Charles V was consolidating his empire. A star cooler than the Sun yet larger in spirit, carrying the coppery vibration of mature giants. Its sustained glow crosses centuries of human history without breaking stride.
