Its story
On the stellar shores of Centaurus shines an orange K-type star 353 light-years away. Its light began its journey when Galileo first aimed his spyglass at the moons of Jupiter. Cooler and longer-lived than the Sun, it offers a warm glow like an ember in the southern night. It belongs to that patient lineage of stars that live far more slowly: when the Sun has burnt its hydrogen, this ember will still be alight.
