Psi
Its story
Psi Cassiopeiae is an orange K-type giant about 195 light-years away, set within the double W of Cassiopeia. Around it, a handful of fainter stars form a visual system that for centuries served as a test target for refracting telescopes. Its coppery tone contrasts with the whiter glare of its younger neighbours; seen from close up it would resemble a slowly cooling brazier, an image faithful to its physical reality: an aging star that has long since left its bluish youth behind.
