Its story
Some 128 light years away in Centaurus, this yellow-white F-type star shines at magnitude 5.32. Its light set out around 1898, in the heart of the Belle Epoque, and crosses a strip of southern sky packed with clusters and nebulae. Hotter and more energetic than the Sun, it embodies that middle ground where stars still keep their vigour without displaying the electric fury of the bluish classes. A discreet, white flame in the long current of the Centaur.
