Iot-1
Its story
Iota¹ Muscae burns in the small Fly, a southern constellation drawn in the sixteenth century from the observations of Pieter Keyser and Frederick de Houtman during their expeditions to the Indies. It is an orange K-type giant whose light crosses more than 221 years before reaching us. Iota² Muscae accompanies it as an optical pair visible only from very southern latitudes, close to the south celestial pole and the rich stellar crossroads of the southern Milky Way.
