What is HIP 65387
Deep in Centaurus burns a yellow sun whose light set out around 260 years ago, when Parisian encyclopedists were arguing over the order of the world. It is an elder sibling of our own star —slightly hotter, slightly brighter— stitched into the great southern tapestry. To look at it is to glance back at an age when reason was still written by hand and southern skies were being patiently mapped.

HIP 65387 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
