Variable starIts story
On the southern flank of Centaurus shines a blue-white variable whose flash takes 379 years to arrive. The light we see tonight set out while Galileo first pointed his telescope at the night sky and discovered the moons of Jupiter. A restless star, it oscillates faintly —breathing, as if remembering those first eyes that learned to study the universe through glass.
