Its story
Within the sprawling Centaur burns an orange K-type ember whose light set out nearly three centuries ago, when Enlightenment thinkers debated reason and liberty in the salons of the eighteenth century. Cooler and more measured than the Sun, it casts the amber tone astronomers associate with patient, long-lived stars. It shines discreetly among the southern figures, asking for no spotlight, like an old lantern still lit when almost no one looks up at the sky.
