It is a white A-type star classified as a peculiar Alpha2 CVn variable, with a magnetic field that organises chemical patches across its surface. Its light reaches us from 265 light-years, like a wink within Berenice's flowing hair.

13 Comae Berenices lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March, when it culminates around midnight.
