Omi-1

Variable star

Its story

Omicron-1 Centauri is one of the few known yellow hypergiants in the sky: stars so unstable and rare that barely a dozen are documented across our entire galaxy. It pulses on a two-hundred-day cycle, shedding mass into space in slow waves, and forms a visual pair with nearby Omicron-2, which accompanies it like a blue echo.
