Its story
30 Ceti is a white-blue F7IV subgiant about 154 light-years away, on the endless back of Cetus the Whale. It is roughly 1.8 billion years old, with an effective temperature near 6,730 K and a radius two and a half times the Sun's. It is in transition: core hydrogen exhausted, it swells slowly, crossing the zone where stars like it leave the main sequence and prepare for a redder life.
