Variable star

Its story

In the Keel of ancient Argo, this white A-type star is one of the most extreme entries in the catalogue. Its distance, on the order of 326,000 light-years, places it even beyond the traditional bounds of the Milky Way —its light wandered through space while our ancestors had not yet mastered fire. Variable and staggeringly luminous, it looks like a beacon lit in another cosmic geography.
