Hot blue starIts story
Another blue sentinel of Vela sends light that took just over nine centuries to cross the void. When it left, the Normans were consolidating their Sicilian kingdom and the first European university was taking root in Bologna. It belongs to spectral class B, with a glow that betrays temperatures far above the Sun's. Its visually cool hue hides, in reality, one of the hottest surfaces in the visible catalog.
