24 Hydrae is a blue B-class star about 677 light-years away, buried within the long, winding body of Hydra, the largest constellation in the sky. Its surface lies well above ten thousand degrees, and its intrinsic brightness far exceeds the Sun s. The light we see now left around 1349, during the great Black Death that was sweeping Europe.
