Highly luminous starIts story
A strange case: a luminous class K star whose light seems to have crossed an abyss. Catalogued in Vela, in the southern sky, its estimated distance —hundreds of thousands of light years— suggests it belongs more to a remote suburb of the Milky Way than to the solar neighborhood. When that orange ray left, the last glaciation still sculpted Europe and humans were painting on cave walls. It arrives now.
