Hot blue starIts story
In Vela —the third fragment of the ancient celestial ship Argo— this hot blue B-type star shines. Its light began its journey around 1500, when Pedro Álvares Cabral landed on the coast of what is today Brazil. B-type stars release intense ultraviolet radiation; what we perceive as visible light is only a fraction of the energy torrent that these bodies pour into space.
