Its story
Sigma-2 Ursae Majoris is a binary about 66 light-years away in the heart of the Great Bear, made up of a yellow-white subgiant and a smaller orange companion. The primary burns nine per cent hotter than the Sun while the secondary sits near 4600 degrees, eighty per cent of the solar temperature. It lies somewhat apart from the famous Big Dipper, tucked into a region less travelled by either gaze or traditional naming.
